31 October 2013

October 30-31 2013, the international forum “Arctic Projects – Today and Tomorrow” was held in Arkhangelsk.

Arkhangelsk Region, having vast production and technological capabilities, dominates in scientific and educational areas among northern regions and is the biggest base for Arctic exploration.

The objective is to create and develop a regional co-working space for discussion challenges and prospects of Arctic projects on the international level.

The forum united more than 200 representatives of international oil and gas companies, government, scientific, and educational authorities.

The following issues were covered during the forum:

  • Perspectives, implementation, technological aspects of projects on the Yamal Peninsula, in the Nenets Autonomous District, and on the continental shelf of the Barents, Kara, and Pechora seas.
  • Industrial, transport, scientific and human resources potential of the northern regions for Arctic projects implementation.
  • Operation of the Northern Sea Route, establishment of infrastructure in the Arctic, safe transportation of hydrocarbons.

Fertoing representatives visited the laboratory of the Institute of Oil and Gas in NArFU (Northern (Arctic) Federal University) which, being the mediator between scientific and production sectors, is used by students of shipbuilding and arctic marine engineering, oil and gas, energy and transport and integrated safety institutes.

We are thankful to the forum hosts – Association of oil and gas suppliers “Sozvezdye” and the Ministry for Economic Development and Competition Policy of Arkhangelsk Region!
