2008 became a crucial and fateful point in Fertoing history for we fully commenced works at pipeline transportation facilities in the harsh environment of the Russian offshore sector. In June the company started performing integrated navigational and hydrographic support to installation of 4 underwater pipelines in the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta gas pipeline system (Baidaratskaya Bay crossing, Kara Sea). During the whole shipping period employees provided survey during dredging and pipe laying operations 24/7 completely independent from the supply bases.

With increasing intensity we kept on monitoring dredging operations in the rivers and channels of St. Petersburg, in the Morskoy Fasad (Marine Facade) passenger terminal under construction (Port of Saint-Petersburg). Similar operations were carried out during construction and commissioning of the access channel to C-1 and C-2 navigation passes of the St. Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier (Kronstadt ship channel, Northern and Western Kronstadt fairways).

During the year, our specialists carried out works on navigation and hydrographic support to marine leading lines installation with position fixing in the port of St. Petersburg, including:

  • Petrovsky fairway reconstruction;
  • Approach channel construction to the Morskoy Fasad  passenger terminal;
  • St. Petersburg sea channel reconstruction with the C-1 navigation pass.

In 2008 Fertoing continued to provide engineering support to hydraulic facility operation. As per the St. Petersburg City Administration order, a complete inventory check of all hydraulic facilities in St. Petersburg was performed that allowed the Client to receive a joint hydraulic facility catalogue within its administrative borders with indications of  technical condition.

At the year’s end, the new Research and Development department was established in the company for development and deployment of special survey devices and software into the work process.

More than 75 hydraulic facility certifications with inspection survey were performed this year.

Fertoing completed works according to 112 Agreements in the ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Vysotsk, Vyborg, Murmansk, Taganrog, Azov, Arkhangelsk, Yamburg, Lomonosov, Kronstadt.

The Company consisted of three departments: engineering, hydrographic, and research and development. Our team consisted of 54 people.
